Esthero Esthero is a female Canadian singer (real name: Jen-Bea Brightman) who doesn't seem to have done much in the past few years. Before that, she received attention for the album Breath from Another and subsequent collaborations with DJ Krush (on "Final Home," which appears on the album Kakusei), Danny Saber (on "Song for Holly," on the soundtrack to the film Go), and most recently the Black Eyed Peas (on "Weekends," from the album Bridging the Gap).

Esthero parted ways with the Sony-affiliated Work Group after the dissolution of the trip-hop outfit (also named Esthero) that she comprised with music mastermind Doc (in the female diva, male DJ pairing so common in trip-hop). That project suffered from a lack of publicity, something the Work Group's official Esthero website (now offline) did little to remedy. Last I heard, Esthero was signed to to Reprise Records, but no album seems to be forthcoming. I first heard Esthero's album Breath from Another in the spring of 1998 at a listening station at Jeugia Records in Kyoto, Japan. I wasn't very taken by the first (and title) track, but when I heard the hypnotic second track, "Heaven Sent," I was transfixed.
